Hello Providers! Electronically Submit Documentation to Prevent Delays
Efficient Processing Through Electronic Submissions
In light of a significant network interruption at Change Healthcare due to a cybersecurity issue, MaineCare is urging its providers to submit documentation electronically to avoid processing delays. This disruption, which began affecting healthcare systems and Medicaid programs across various states, including Maine, on February 21, 2023, has specifically impacted the processing of documents submitted via mail and fax.
MaineCare has identified the HealthPAS Online Portal as the preferred method for submitting claims, provider enrollment documentation, and prior authorization (PA) requests. This move aims to mitigate the delays caused by the network disruption and ensure the timely processing of essential healthcare documents. Providers are required to use their Trading Partner Account (TPA) for access to the portal, streamlining the submission process.
The disruption has particularly affected providers who rely on Change Healthcare for submitting electronic claims to MaineCare. As a temporary measure, MaineCare reminds these providers that they can utilize the Direct Data Entry option available on the HealthPAS Online Portal for submitting institutional, professional, or dental claims. It is important to note, however, that this option does not extend to pharmacy claims.
MaineCare is prioritizing urgent PA requests during this period to minimize the impact on patient care and provider operations. Providers experiencing difficulties or those with questions regarding the submission process are encouraged to contact Provider Services at 1-866-690-5585 for support and guidance.
This advisory underscores MaineCare’s commitment to maintaining efficient and uninterrupted service delivery amidst challenges. By adopting electronic submissions through the HealthPAS Online Portal, MaineCare aims to ensure that providers can continue to offer critical healthcare services without significant delays.
