UnitedHealthcare is expanding a feature that makes it easier for providers to update their patients' primary care physician (PCP) directly through the Eligibility and Benefits tool in the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. This update is being rolled out in phases and currently applies to eligible Medicaid members in select states.

As each new state becomes available, the PCP update functionality will automatically appear in the Eligibility and Benefits tool when you search for a member from that state.

How to Update Your Patient's PCP

• Go to UHCprovider.com and sign in with your One Healthcare ID
  • If you do not have a One Healthcare ID, register now
• Select Eligibility, search for the member, and scroll down to view the Care Provider information
• If the PCP needs to be changed, select Change Primary Care Physician under the Primary Care Physician box
  • This option will only appear if that particular member is eligible for a PCP change
• Follow the on-screen prompts and submit the change

Please keep in mind that any changes made will take effect on the same day but may take a few days to reflect in the portal. The member may also receive a letter and a new ID card where applicable. The portal does not allow retroactive or future-dated changes.
